Psychology: My Peak Experience

Abraham Maslow explains the concept of self-actualization, in which ones fulfills all his/her needs and maximizes his/her potential by becoming what he/she wants to be. He further theorized that many self-actualized people go through peak experiences, and these are powerful experiences in which people seem to transcend the self and come to feel as one with the world. Peak experiences don’t have to be extraordinary life events, but this feeling of transcendence needs to be felt within.

While I would never claim to be a “self-actualized” individual, I did have one of those peak experiences. This feeling of overwhelming transcendence is surreal; I don’t even know how to explain it. You can read more about my experience in the link below (written in Arabic).
